I need some serious feedback on this design. I'm still in the concept phase and I want to know what you like, dislike, and would like to see. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Notes:
- This would be done in Flash.
- Other than logo, color palette is flexible.
- I need to incorporate a small music component and controls.

Hey Andrew,

Well, I don't sugar coat things because if I did how would I be helping? Here are the things that stick out to me that I might improve upon:

1. Too many different fonts. I count 6? Try to limit it to 2 or 3.
2. Don't be afraid of color. Get some color into this design! Look at real world color palettes for inspiration.
3. Think texture and depth (unless you're going for a completely flat, vector design).
4. Personally, I think one of the biggest things that makes a site stand out from others is the uniqueness of navigation. Try to come up with something other than the traditional horizontal text-based navigation. Custom made icons are always cool.
5. Try to draw some inspiration from your clean looking logo. You can use it as a foundation for overall design inspiration.

Hope those points were helpful. I just want to give you raw and honest feedback. Can't wait to see how this evolves!
Pros:
+ LOVE the cover-flow-esque navigation once you get into the individual works. Seriously, I want to marry you just for using that in a way that it doesn't look like it's been directly ripped from an iPhone.
+ The layout: it's neat, it's clean, it's not overdone. I think it'll be really effective.

Cons:
-- The colors. Ouch! I love the black/greys/white scheme, but you really need to bring a different color in there BESIDES that dark green. It's too dark, it looks awful. You need something that's going to make your layout pop, something with more contrast. It would work if your base color was white, but it's black. You need to choose a brighter green, or a bright blue, or heck, even a reddish-orange or a yellow. But that dark green has to go.

I can NOT wait to see this design finalized. Looking good!

So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said-
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
I reeeeeally like the scrolling thumbnails bit, especially the comentary. I need something like this whenever I get my own website. A friend's supposed to be doing some work for me, but his computer's shot.

Hmmm...I WONDER where I'm gonna get somebody who does web design? Hmmmmm...

I actually like the palette, I think it holds together well and keeps the focus on what's important - the actual portfolio pieces. If you do decide on a color change, I'd suggest doing it with some type of background gradient.

The navigation does need some work though. I don't really like nav schemes that bring more options one a menu item is clicked/rolled over.

Find more ways to incorporate your logo.

Yea, I agree with Matt, the amount of different fonts is an issue. I like the stroke around the photo flow type navigation, it goes well with the rest of the look of the site.

I think your name and logo are too big, its kind of overwhelming, its not too bad on the main menu but in the gallery it seems like it doesn't work too well.

Oh yea, and I don't feel like the "loading..." text works well in that placement either, maybe smaller and in the middle of the circle? Its kind of disrupting the flow of the positive and negative space thats going on in the preloader page.

Anyways, keep off the crack and keep it real!
Wow, thank you.
Those are some really great points.

palette - yeah, I do like the colors but I know a lot of people usually disagree with me on color so I wanted to keep it open. And I'm now reconsidering because you mentioned a gradient. That sounds good.

nav - super tough. I know what you mean about simplifying it, but I have so many sections and links I want to incorporate so it would be so hard not to have some sort of sub-nav. I'll think about it, if you come up with anything or have any examples, let me know.

logo - how else should I incorporate it? Do you mean to move it around and keep it less static? Or do you mean to just have more than one logo on the page?

thanks for all the feedback!!

thank you, thank you, thank you
You made me really happy! haha
Yes, I know what you mean about the cover-flow thing. Love the idea, don't want to steal it. I think this looks pretty nice even if it is simplified.

Color - well the background is a dark navy blue, and the only green is in the loading bar. Is that the green you're referring to? I kinda want the bg to be dark so that the portfolio pieces pop out, but I'll play with lighter colors to see what happens.

Thanks again.
