Logo for use on promotional materials for a local musician and his group/movement, called Street Team. He goes by the name Intrepid, and he wanted to incorporate a microphone into the two text pieces, which he supplied. I did a few renditions and although he didn't choose this one, it is definitely the best one I did and my favorite.
I really want to improve my logos in the future, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
The "interpid" mic looks great to me but the "street team" part (which seams to be essential if i'm right) looks way too different and too "easy". Let me explain, the 3 "e"s in street team look definetely the same, it's like a flashing sign sayin "hey i'm just a font the designer used", see ? If I were you I'll try two things, first working on that "street team" part with an hand made type work, and then try to fade away the mic's wire.
Sorry if it sounds mean, since I'm french I know what I mean but I can't quite express it in english.
It doesn't sound mean at all. Thank you so much for that thorough critique. I really appreciate it. Those are some really good points you brought up. You are very right about the lack of variation in the "street team" characters. I messed with the wire for a long time and was never really satisfied. Fading it out might be exactly what it needs.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I will take what I've learned with me into future logo designs.
Imo, there's too much of a difference between the 3D mic and the 2D text; this is more for the white, it's less noticeable in the black version. Maybe if you were to make the text slightly rounder it wouldn't be as much of a difference? But then, if you just go for the black version it shouldn't be much of a problem.
