I felt that this image was really worthy of individual attention as a powerful artistic piece. I find the stance and lighting to be really moving and it draws me in very easily. The original was in color and though it stood out just as well with its bright colors (yellow shirt) I really think that the monochrome translates better.

this is awesome....'facial expression seems to radiate out thru the whole picture, setting the tone perfectly....the b/w adds to it somehow....lovely work :)

Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
This is definitely my first true artistic use of a camera. The composition is there, and now the feeling is alive. I'm excited to keep improving my skills. There is so much to learn!
